Which Fon course should you choose? The 6 criteria that really matter
There are few fɔ̀ngbè courses on offer, and they’re not all equal. Here are the six questions to ask before paying for anything — they rule out most bad surprises.
Is there a native voice?
Are tones explained, or only pronounced?
Is every form translated?
Is there a progression, or a list?
The thirty-second test
Look at the table of contents. If lesson 12 can be followed without having seen lesson 3, it isn’t a progression, it’s a catalog.
Subscription or one-time payment?
Can you try before you pay?
Six questions, one decision
Native voice, explained tones, translated forms, a real progression, clear payment, a possible trial. A course that fails on any of the six will cost you, above all, time.
Tools help you out. A method gets you talking.
Dictionaries, keyboards, translators: useful, but they don’t teach you to speak. 79 video lessons with a native speaker, in order, with tones taken seriously — that’s what the Academy does.
